#9 Johnny and Karen Combs: Entrepreneur, Leader and Author

As business leaders, CEO, entrepreneurs and authors Johnny and Karen Combs are Business as Mission catalysts making a difference in 2007.

In 1994, Johnny and his wife Karen started out to build a company dedicated to serve its clients, employees, and the world around us with a focus on five core values: a servant’s heart, excellence, professionalism, pioneering spirit, and integrity. Today these core values continue to be the foundation for Paradigm Engineering.

Paradigm engineering "specializes in providing builders, developers, commercial and industrial contractors with storm water management programs that meet and exceed federal, state, and local regulations. Our objective is to help our clients navigate through the constantly changing and complex regulations of storm water control. Our services include consulting, education, SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) preparation, inspections, and enforcement and compliance support."

At their home offices in Lewisville, Texas the commitment of Johnny and Karen to the idea of Business as Mission is very evident. Building on the success of Paradigm Engineering they have gone on to launch several groups such as Business Without Borders and Divine Storehouse that focus on providing resources, training and relief efforts that bring about economic, social, spiritual, and relational ttransformation that you find in business as mission groups. Most recently Johnny, Karen and the team at Paradigm where a big part in launching the International Conference on Business as Mission. This event was held in Dallas last fall and was one of the largest collections of business as mission leaders, practitioners, and authors.

In addition to their work with Business without Borders, Divine Storehouse, and the ICBMI conference, Johnny and has recently released a book called "Kingdom Catalyst: Increasing Hope so Faith will Flourish." Here's the description from the website, "When you see pictures of hungry people in t
hird world countries, does your heart ache for them? Do you wonder what you can do to help them while still accomplishing your business goals? Kingdom Catalyst explains how God calls all of His children to help others and to share His good news with the world. That calling includes more than becoming a missionary or donating money toward mission work. God wants to use you, a businessperson, to be a Kingdom Catalyst to increase hope and bring faith to those who have never heard of God's saving grace. From the First Commission to the Last Commission, Kingdom Catalyst describes how you can use your business skills to further the gospel and to become a Kingdom Catalyst."

As practitioners... as authors... and as leaders Johnny and Karen Combs are kingdom catalysts that are making a difference through business as mission.
