Back to Thailand: Revisiting The Value of the Lausanne Business as Mission Papers
The Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization is a group committed to serving leaders around the world by providing a place for discussion of strategies to address issues facing the world today. In the early fall of 2004 in Thailand, a group of individuals representing practitioners, scholars, pastors, businessmen, and leaders from around the world gathered to address new issues and new opportunities for world evangelization. Business as Mission was one of the main discussions of their meetings.
The 88 page summary that came out of these meetings helped define Business as Mission, it's Biblical foundations, the present context for Business as Mission (both opportunities and challenges), the essentials of good business as mission, stories/case studies of business as mission, mobilizing for Business as Mission, and the vital role of partnerships with Church and Mission Agencies.
The true value of the Lausanne papers is the collaboration of a hundreds of people from varying perspectives. This summary outlines the issues for friends and colleagues that are new to the movement and I recommend that for those of you trying to understand the landscape that you start here.
